With great pleasure we announce the official opening of http://Nahjul-Balagha.net , the first Sunni website dedicated analysing and exposing the authenticity of the famous book Nahjul-Balagha, called by many Shia the “sister of the Quran”. The website also contains other useful material such the authentic quotes of Ali bin abi Talib from Sunni sources etc.

Iran arrests Shia intellectual & Scholar for his ‘anti-Imamate’ article

Iranian regime arrested a Shia intellectual and scholar, Dr.Sayyed Ali Asghar Ghoravi, for his article about Imamate. In the article Dr.Ghoravi mentioned that leaders are appointed through Shura of the people not divinely. He discuses the verses that Shia use to prove the appointment of Ali (ra) and refutes them. His article angered many Ayatollahs who asked the government to punish him and shutdown the newspaper.

This is his wikipedia page:

He was arrested on Sunday in Isfahan and transferred to a prison in Tehran. Not only that but even the newspaper, Roznameh Bahar, that published his article has been forced to shutdown.

He studied in Iran and Lebanon and holds doctorate in Islamic philosophy.

His Article

I will translate some of his points – I haven’t read the article completely:

This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. [Maida:3]

– The verses before and after shows that Allah (swt) gives the Prophet (saw) the responsibility to convey the message, nothing should stop him from doing his job and He shouldn’t worry about the opposition from the disbelievers. From the way and style of the verse it becomes clear that the “completion of favor” is the divine revelation (Quran) and Islam. Meaning, now that revelation has been conveyed to the people without any defects, the favor has been completed.

– If the verse “Convey that which we have revealed upon you” [Madia: 67] was about introducing Ali (as) for caliphate, Allah would have mentioned it clearly right here in the verse. Allah is wise.

– Ali (as) himself in Nahj al-Balagha emphasize that a political government comes through Bayah and vote. For example Amir al-Muminin says to Muawiah in letter 6 of Nahj al-Balagha:

Verily, the people who payed allegiance to Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman, have payed allegiance to me based on the same principles as the allegiance to them. So anyone who was present has no right to go against his pledge of allegiance, and anyone who was absent has no right to oppose it. And verily shura (consultation) is only the right of the Muhajirs and the Ansar. So if they decide upon a man and declare him their imam, then it is with the pleasure of Allah.

The words of Ali clearly shows that caliphate is not something divine, rather the political successors of the Prophet (saw) must be appointed through people.

– Ali (as) never talks about his divine appointment and his appointment by the Prophet (saw). Even when he wants to defend his right for caliphate, he emphasizes on his merits and his suitabilities and informs the people about these points so that they don’t make mistake in appointing their leader. In entire sermons of Nahjul Balagha “awareness and selection (of leader)” is so clear that it leaves no doubt what opinion of Ali (as) was about a government.

– The behavior of Ali (as) towards the three caliphs especially Abubakr and Omar, as mentioned in many history books, clearly shows that he didn’t consider them to be people who would disobey the command of the Prophet (saw) and usurp the government. The cooperation of Ali (as) with Khulafa, which he himself have mentioned many times is so compassionate that leaves no room for doubt.

For example in the book al-Gharat al-Thaqafi Shi’i quotes Amir al-muminin Ali (as): “When the Prophet (saw) completed his mission, Allah took him from this world, peace and blessing of Allah be upon him, then the Muslims appointed two worthy men as his successors and those two leaders acted upon the book and the Sunnah and did not deviant from the Sunnah and ways of the Prophet (saw). Then Allah took their souls. May Allah have mercy on them.”

– If Amir al-Muminin was divinely appointed after the Prophet (saw), would his courage stop him to unleash his sword to implement the order and justice of Allah? Was it not expected from the gate of knowledge to explain the truth in time when needed?

…and the article continues

Shia rafida & khawariji will be in hell-fire

Here are two HASAN hadiths from ahle-sunnah which tells about rafida from the tongue of Ali(ra):

The Prophet PBUH told Ali(ra): “You have the example of Isa (PBUH), the Jews hated him so they wronged his mother and the Christians loved him so they raised him above his status“, Ali then said: “Two individuals will be tortured (In Hell) because of me, one who loves me extremely who attributes things to me which do not rightfully belong to me, and a hater who hates me.

Narrator: Ali ibn abi Talib.
Source: Musnad Ahmad 2/355.
Grading: Ahmad Shakir said “Hadith has a HASAN [good] chain of narrators.

Comment: As we can see the: rafidi shia is compared with christians & khawarji with jews & both are jahannami.

Ali (ra) said: “Two individuals will be tortured because of me, one who loves me severely and one who hates me.

Narrator: Abu Habrah Sheehah bin Abdullah al-Dabi’ee.
Source: Takhreej Kitab al-Sunnah #984.
Grading: al-Albani said “Hadith has a HASAN [good] chain of narrators.

& there are lots of hadiths of almost same conclusion.

Same thing can be found in shia rafida’s books like najhul-balagha, bihar etc. as well:

Ameer-ul-mominin said: Two peoples will destroy, one who love me so much & other who hate me so much.

Nahjul Balagha, letter 58

This letter proves Ali [ra] consider Muawiyah [ra] as muslim like himself..

Ali Radhi Allaahu ‘anhu also confirmed that he and Muawiyah Radhi Allaahu ‘anhu were on the same deen this is proven even from the Shia sources. Al-Shareef Al-Ridi narrated in Nahjul Balagha a speech delivered by Ali where Ali Radhi Allaahu ‘anhu says:

“In the beginning of our matter, the people of Sham and us met. It is obvious that our God is one, our Prophet is one, and our call in Islam is one. We do not see ourselves more in faith in Allah or more in believing His messenger than them, nor they do. Our matter is one, except for our disagreement in Uthman’s blood, and we are innocent from his murder.
[Nahjul Balagha, vol.3, p.648; letter 58]

Comment: Note that this letter is after the fight of siffin.

Now i am confused! Imam Ali considered the peoples of sham equal in deen. & the only difference is the qiyas of Uthman[ra]’s blood.

Then how can shia claim that who so ever fought with imam ali were kafir!

And Muawiyah Radhi Allaahu Ta’ala ‘anh said:
Ali is better and more virtuous than me and I differ from him only in the matter of qisaas of Uthmaan (Radhi Allaahu Ta’ala ‘anh) and if he takes the qisaas of the blood of uthmaan I will be the first of the people of syria to make bayah to him”

Nahjul-balagha & its authenticity

Nahjul Balagha is not a religious book, the guy who collected these Sermons never intended on writing a book of Fiqh or Aqeedah and this is mainly why he didn’t care about the authenticity of the Texts inside his book, The purpose of this book is to show Eloquent Arabic literature, this is why he named it the “Peak of eloquence” or “Nahjul balagha, It is categorised by the scholars as a book of “Adab”… meaning a Book of Arab literature and No one with his right mind would use an Isnad-less book to build his religion. Shia Scholars were trying their best to dig up and find correct Sanads for such Khutbas unfortunately They never came up with anything convincing.

We ask the Shia for a Sahih Isnad to Ali bin abi talib RAA and they give us pathetic chains from God knows where, as if we’d accept a Shia isnad. The Shia scholars have been digging hard trying to find ANY source or anything which resembles these Khutbas of Nahjul Balagha in order to claim that the book is authentic, They tried to find and come up with any Isnad for the book so they can statisfy their followers and what they came up with was quite laughable and unacceptable to any man who has intelect, one of these scholars

who tried to defend this book is Abdul Zahra al Khatib, he writes in his book:

“Al Shareef did not collect Nahjul balagha to make it a book of Fiqh/Jurisprudence or a book to extract rulings from, But His aim was to reveal to the people a sample from the speech of Ameer al mumineen and to show the rare eloquence and the wonders of Arabic tongue and its jewels, This is why he never mentioned any Asanid or even sources unless very rarely” Source: [Masadir Nahjul balagha wa Asaniduhu/ Abdul Zahra al Khateeb page 27]

So it’s not even a religious book but a Book of Arab literature with absolutely no Isnads whatsoever Unlike the four ancient Main Shia books which are full of thousands of hadiths with and without Isnads, thus we cannot take anything from such book and build our religion or better yet build an entire Madhab based on such ridiculous book. As far as scientific Value, it has no scholarly or scientific value.

And this Guy who wrote an entire book to defend Nahjul Balagha’s Authenticity stated at the beginning of his book (and I want you to notice their Tactics):

So would anyone be greedy enough after all of these distaters and incidents to ask for ALL THE SOURCES of Nahjul Balagha with all of its vocabulary? NO and Then NO!
[Masadir Nahjul Balagha wa Asaniduhu / Abdul Zahra page 24]

then he mentions in page 25
And the burning of the Shia libraries until the sheikh al Taefa(TUSI) had to finally move to Najaf in 450 hijri“.

Note: So basically he’s telling the reader that the Shiite books have been attacked over and over and the Shiites have been oppressed and the sources of their books have dissapeared over time so it’s not logical for us to ask for the Sources of the Sermons Word per Word. although everyone knows that Tusi’s Library was burned 50 years after Nahjul Balagha was written and Tusi’s library was not the only one with this book in it. So it doesn’t affect the sources of Nahjul Balagha.

Then the Nahjul Balagha defender who Already stated that the sources of these Sermons had been burned and disappeared Said in Page 26:

And It’s not harmful in this situation if we return to these sources of the Nahjul Balagha which we specified and if they have a little conflict with what’s in our book by addition of a phrase or deletion of a phrase or having different words or missing parts

Note: So Now he’s saying That there are Sources to these Sermons and Those sources Conflict (but by a Small amount) with what’s written in Nahjul Balagha…

Mashallah how academic. 🙂

He mentions in Page 25:
“The Disapearance of MOST of the sources during the Life of al shareef al Radhi because of Fitnah and hardships that we mentioned earlier”

Any Muslim with intellect knows that he’s paving the way to some of the weakest and most unreliable sources and the most unacceptable of Isnads ever. And God knows what his proof is when he says That The time of NahjuL Balagha was full of Fitnah.

From what we understand until now is that The Sources are different then what’s written inside the Nahj and some of them are missing phrases and adding phrases or missing Paragraphs or changing words and that we can’t get all the sources for these sermons and That even if we get sources the Isnad needs to be authentic and Sahih.

So until now the conclusion we draw is that we cannot attribute this book to imam Ali RAA by Jazm.

Prophet (pbuh) forbade matam

I saw many rafidi’s always saying that we love hussain(as) so we perform matam in his love!

Now lets see what Imam Ali said about matam in Nahj ul Balagha:

SERMON 235: Spoken when Amir al-mu’minin was busy in the funeral ablution (ghusl) of the Holy Prophet and shrouding him

May my father and my mother shed their lives for you. O’ Messenger of Allah! With your death the process of prophethood revelation and heavenly messages has stopped which had not stopped at the death of others (prophets). Your position with us (members of your family) is so special that your grief has become a source of consolation (to us) as against the grief of all others; your grief is also common so that all Muslims share it equally. If you had not ordered endurance and prevented us from bewailing we would have produced a store of tears and even then the pain would not have subsided and this grief would not have ended and they would have been too little of our grief for you. But this (death) is a matter that cannot be reversed nor is it possible to repulse it. May my father and my mother die for you; do remember us with Allah and take care of us.

I wonder is Shiites grief more for Imam Hussain(ra) then Hazrat Ali’s (ra) grief for Rasool-ALLAH(saw) ??

Imam Ali was not Infallible – 2

Here is the first part: Imam Ali was not Infallible

In another sermon, the commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali mentioned the Kharijite, Al-Kharit bin Najiyah and his earlier attempts to instigate the Imam to kill and arrest a number of the leading opposition figures, and the statement of the Imam to him, and to the general populace, that their duty is to stand by his side, and prevent, him, even he wanted to do that himself, and his saying to him “Fear Allah!”

Imam Ali would not have said that to him, if there were any tradition on infallibility among the Imams and Shiites and (other) Muslims. That is because, the glory of infallibility makes it necessary for the Imam to be above all kind of criticisms, and that he will beyond any kind of opposition, or any attempt by anyone to advise and counsel him. Imam Ali has never done that, he depicted best example of humility and equality… He would not have demand of his companions to perform their political role in checking and correcting the Imam (if infallibility was the norm).

Sermon 78: He (Ali) said in his du’ah (supplication): “ O Allah forgive me what you know of me, if I go back to it again, forgive me again. O Allah! Forgive me what I kept in my mind, but You did not accomplish for me! O Allah! Forgive me what I said with my tongue in devotion to You, but my heart was inconsistent with it! O Allah forgive me the glimpses of the eyes, errors in speech, the desire of the heart and slippery of the tongue.”

In another place Imam Ali mentioned the qualities of the ruler and the basic requirements that must be available in him, without mentioning infallibility as one of them.

Sermon 131: (bold part) He says: “… It is not befitting for the leader of people in their privacy, blood, booty, and Imam of Muslims to be: a miser so that he will find his lust in their wealth; nor an ignorant person, lest he lead them astray with his ignorance. Nor discourteous, lest he turns into different groups through his discourteousness; nor an unjust person towards people that accepts some and rejects others, nor one to takes bribes in judgment, that he deny people their rights; nor the one who abandons the tradition (sunnah), lest the Ummah be destroyed.”

Another place once again:

Sermon 173: He also says in another sermon: “ O you people, surely the most deserving and suitable person for this matter is the most powerful of them in it, and the most knowledgeable of Allah’s instructions regarding it.”
