بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

Assalamu Alaikum,

As requested by some of the brothers on this and other forums, I am officially announcing my rejection of Shiism and my acceptance of true Islam – that of Ahlul Sunnah wal Jama’a.

I’m going to keep this as a short introduction for the time being, and later on, insha’ Allah, I will expound in further detail on exactly why I made this decision.

For some background information regarding myself – all that I will divulge at present is that I currently live in the western world and was born and raised as a Shi’i, and am in my late 20s. Continue reading

‘My first Sunni sitting’ – by an ex-Shia brother

So, just wanted to share a little experience I had over the weekend.

I attended the ‘aqd of my cousin (my auntie’s daughter). My mothers side of the family are of Ahlul Sunnah – though not the very knowledgeable types, they are the “we are all Muslims” type of people, and wouldn’t be able to point out a single difference between Sunni-Shia (beyond the typical & obvious things).

Anyway – all the people in attendance at the ‘aqd were of Ahlul Sunnah, and I met a few Shuyuqh, a few random brothers, and sat and listened to a lecture.

I can honestly say that this was the first time in my life that I felt I was truly in the presence of mu’mineen.

That’s not to say that I view Shi’s negatively (the laymen) – but the difference was startling.

The sheikh giving the lecture mentioned only a single person – Rasul Allah (SAWS). Every hadith he quoted was from Rasul Allah (SAWS), every example he gave was from Rasul Allah (SAWS).

There was no exaggerating & no fantastic fairy tales – anyone who has listened to a Shi’i giving a lecture will understand what I am talking about.

There was no hateful speech, or hidden innuendo.

In contrast, I attended a majlis ‘aza for a family member who passed away recently (Shi’i). The sheikh (Shii) giving the lecture and doing the Majlis took approximately 15 minutes before bringing up the issue of Mu’awiyah and ridiculing the Sahabah. During a majlis for a person who just passed away! Allahu Akbar

So anyway – what I am getting at is that there is absolutely no doubt in my mind who are the true followers of Rasul Allah (SAWS).

The oppression of Ali bin abi Talib

Assalamu Alaikum,

One of the main themes of Rafidism is the “oppression of Ahlul Bayt”. Ali (RA), according to the Rafida, was oppressed after the Prophet (SAWS) died. He was denied his rightful Khilafa, his wife was beaten up, his wife’s inheritance was stolen (Fadak) – amongst other things.

The Rafida go to great lengths to bewail, mourn and eulogise this severe oppression.

The Rafida also pride themselves on being a people of “logic”. They berate the Ash’aris and their literalism, their backwardness, and take pride in their use of ‘Aql and Ijtihad in interpreting the Qur’an and Ahadith.

So, I ask the Rafida to “logically” interpret the following facts about ‘Ali (RA), and to reconcile them with their belief in his oppression:

– Ali (RA) married 8 women.

http://mezan.net/mawsouat/ali/zawjateh.html

– Ali (RA) had 28 children.

http://mezan.net/mawsouat/ali/zawjateh.html

Taking the above facts into account:

– Logically – does a man who marries 8 times and has 28 children sound like he lived in oppression?

– Can a poor and oppressed man marry and maintain 8 women? – even if you don’t marry them at the same time

– Can a poor and oppressed man maintain and support 28 children? – let’s assume most of them make it to adulthood

– Where did ‘Ali get the money for this? Was he a known as a rich man?

– So where did he get this money?
