Uthman ibn Affan [ra] raised the children of Abu Dharr [ra]

After Abdullah ibn Masud [ra] prayed the funeral prayer of Abu Dharr [ra] , he took the children of Abu Dharr [ra] and went to Uthman [ فضم ابنته إلى عياله] who included his (i.e Abu Dharr’s) daughter in his children.

Al Kamil, by Ibn Athir

It is also written in Tarikh Tabari:

فضم عياله إلى عياله
He [i.e Usman ra] included his (i.e Abu Dharr’s) children in his children.

1.) It has been narrated from Saeed that Ali went out to render allegiance to Abu Bakr. In the way, he heard the Ansar talking. Ali said : O people, who can -postpone- the person whom the Prophet (s) has -prioritized-. Saeed says that Ali said such a thing which on one else could have said. [Kinzul Ummal 3/141]

2.) It has been narrated from Qais ibn Qatadah that he said : Ali said to me that Prophet (s) was ill in his last days and he would say that Abu Bakr should lead the prayer for people. So when he died then I thought that prayer is the sign of Islam. So we selected the person for our worldly affairs when the Prophet (s) had selected for our religious affairs. So we rendered allegiance to him. [Istiab 2/242]

3.) It has been narrated from Abul Jahaf that he said : When the people rendered allegiance to Abu Bakr, he stood up and announced three times that O people : (If you wish then) I return to you your allegiance. So Ali stood up and said : By Allah, neither we return it nor we wish you to do so, you have been put forth by the Prophet (s) in prayer, so who can -postpone- you? [Ansab al-ashraf 1/587]

4.) Zaid ibn Ali narrate from his forefathers that Abu Bakr said : Whoever dislikes my allegiance then I am ready to return it. He repeated it thrice. Then Ali stood up and said : By God, neither we want to take it back nor desire it from you. You have been put forth by the Prophet (s) in prayer so how can we -postpone- you? [Kinzul ummah 3/140]

5.) It has been narrated from Abdur Rahman ibn abi Bakrah that he said : Ali visited me (during illness), and said : The Prophet (s) died and the people rendered allegiance to Abu Bakr and we agreed with it. Then Abu Bakr died and Umar became Caliph, I also rendered allegiance to him and was agreed with it. When Umar died, he had formed a council. The people rendered allegiance to Uthman, I also rendered allegiance to him and was agreed with it. [Fadhail Abi Bakr. ,p 5]

6.) It has been narrated from Qais that Ali said : By the one who opened the grain and created the plant from it, if the Prophet (s) had promised me (about caliphate) then I would have stood firmly on it and I would not have let Abu Bakr climb a single step on the pulpit of the Prophet (s). [Kinzul ummal 3/141]

7.) It has been narrated from Yassar that he said : When the last time of Abubakr arrived, he appeared from the window and addressing the people, said : I have made a promise, do you agree with it? The people said : O caliph of the Messenger of Allah, we agree with it. Ali said : We will not agree with anyone except Umar. [Usudul Ghaba 4/70]

8.) It has been narrated from Salma that he said : The first one to render allegiance to Uthman was Abdur Rahman ibn Awf and after him, Ali ibn abi talib. [Tabaqat ibn Saad 3/42]

9.) Umar ibn Umairah, the slave of Umar ibn Khattab, narrated from his father and he from his grandfather that I saw that the first one to render allegiance to Uthman was Ali amongst the people, then the people followed him and rendered allegiance (to Uthman). [Bukhari 1/525]

10.) Ibn Kathir has also mentioned the allegiance of Ali to Uthman. [Al bidaya 7/147]

11.) Abdur Razaq has also mentioned it. [Musannaf 5/478]

12.) Ibn Kathir says : This sanad (of the narration of sunan baihaqi) is sahih from the hadith of abu nadhra al muadhar ibn malik from abu saeed saad ibn malik ibn sanan and it has a great benefit which is that the allegiance of Ali (to Abu Bakr) held on the first day or the second day after the death of the Prophet (s). And this is what is correct, as Ali never separated from Abu Bakr at any time and didn’t stop praying behind him in any prayer. [Al bidaya 4/248]

13.) It has been narrated from Habib that he said : Ali was at home when it was said to him that Abu Bakr is sitting for allegiance, so he went out at once till he pledged allegiance to him. [Tarikh al-Tibri 3/201]

14.) Imam Baihaqi says: The saying of Zuhri that Ali didn’t render allegiance to Abu Bakr till he died is disconnected and the hadith of Abu Saeed Khudri in which his allegiance is mentioned after Saqifa alongwith the masses is more correct. And he says in al aitqad : And what is mentioned that Ali didn’t render allegiance to Abu Bakr for six months, it is the saying of Zuhri, not Ayesha. [al-Aitqad p. 180]

15.) Ibn Hajr asqalani says : Ibn Habban and others have authenticated the narration of Abu Saeed Khudri that Ali rendered allegiance to AbuBakr in the beginning and as far as what is mentioned in Muslim from Zuhri that a man said to him , did Ali not render allegiance to Abu Bakr till Fatima died, and he said , No and not a single person from Bani Hashim, then Baihaqi has weakened it, because Zuhri hasn’t provided the sanad and the narration (from Abu Saeed Khudri) is more correct. [Fathul Bari, 7/399]

Shiite Sources: (We have already posted other Shia narrations before on this link.)

1.) Zurarah narrated from Imam Baqir that he said : Ali had hidden his ‘amr’ and rendered allegiance with disliking when he didn’t find supporters. [Furu Kafi, 3/139]

2.) When the letter reached Usama, he returned with his supporters to Medinah, and when he saw that the people have united on AbuBakr, he went to Ali and asked : What is it? He replied :This is what you are observing. Usama asked : Have you also rendered allegiance to him? Ali said : Yes O Usamah! [Ihtijaj p. 50]

Shustri says:

3.) Ali and the complete bani hashim rendered allegiance to Abu Bakr with dislike, and laid their hands on his hand. [Majalis al Momineen, tadhkira Khalid ibn saeed]

4.) Ali said : I rendered allegiance to Abu Bakr just like you people rendered allegiance to him, and disliked to break the power of Muslims and disunite their jamaat, then when AbuBakr appointed Umar as Caliph after him, and you knew that I had more right after the Messenger of Allah (s), I still rendered allegiance to Umar as you rendered allegiance to him, till when he was killed and made me the member of six member council, I joined them and disliked to disunite the jamaat of the Muslims and break their power. Then you rendered allegiance to Uthman, I also rendered allegiance to him. [Amali by Tusi, 2/121]

5.) Sayyid Murtadha says in ‘al Shafi’ : What is apparent and in which there is no problem is that Ali rendered allegiance (to Abu Bakr) to protect from Sharr and escape from fitnah. [al-Shafi, p. 209]

Hassan and Hussain took part in battles during Uthman’s Caliphate

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem,

Not too long ago, I stumbled upon several historical reports that Al-Hassan and Al-Hussain took part in a few military expeditions during their early years. These historical reports seem to have been overlooked by most people and I believe that it would be a good idea to share some of my findings for the benefit of the readers.

– Both Al-Hasan and Al-Hussain were present in the army of Abdullah bin Abi Sarh according to Ibn Khuldoon in the year 26 AH. (Tareekh Ibn Khuldoon, 917)

– Al-Hassan and Al-Hussain were in the army of Sa’eed bin Al-Aas who invaded Tabristan in the year 30 AH. (Tareekh Al-Tabari, 2/765)

– Ibn Katheer narrates the same event through Al-Mada’inee. (Al-Bidaya wal Nihaya, 7/166)

– Al-Balathuri mentioned the names of Al-Hasan and Al-Hussain amongst those that were said to have fought under Sa’eed bin Al-Aas in Tabristan. (Futooh Al-Bildaan, 309)

– They were in the army of Sa’eed bin Al-Aas in the conquest of Jurjaan which ended without bloodshed. (Tareekh Al-Tabari, 2/765)

– Hamza Al-Sahami stated that Al-Hussain was involved in the conquest of Jurjaan, and mentioned that it is said that Al-Hasan was there as well. (Tareekh Jurjaan, 43)

– Khaleefa bin Khayyat narrated that Al-Hassan and Al-Hussain were defending Uthman during the day that he was killed and when Uthman asked his companions to leave, Al-Hassan was the last person that left. (Tareekh Khaleefa, 102)

Keep in mind, that the events above all occurred during the time of Uthman, through multiple sources. On the other hand, I failed to find any of this information in the books of the Shias that contain detailed information on the Twelve Imams. There is pretty much nothing about Al-Hassan or Al-Hussain from the death of the Prophet (pbuh) up until the time that Ali becomes the caliph. In any case, I will try to look harder for these in the future.

The above implies that there was a strong bond between the Sibtain (ra) and Uthman (ra). This is also a solid argument for those that say that Ali (ra) didn’t bother fighting during the reign of the first three caliphs because he didn’t believe in their legitimacy as caliphs, since logically speaking, he wouldn’t allow his sons to do so either.

Any contribution to this post will be much appreciated.

‘Sons of Prostitutes’ corrupted and changed the Quran

Bismillah,

According to al-Majlisi and al-Kulayni the sons of prostitutes have corrupted and changed the Quran:

عدة من أصحابنا، عن سهل بن زياد، عن إسماعيل بن مهران، عن محمد بن منصور الخزاعي، عن علي بن سويد، ومحمد بن يحيى، عن محمد بن الحسين عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن بزيع، عن عمه حمزة بن بزيع، عن علي بن سويد، والحسن بن محمد، عن محمد بن أحمد النهدي، عن إسماعيل بن مهران، عن محمد بن منصور، عن علي بن سويد قال: كتبت إلى أبي الحسن موسى (عليه السلام) وهو في الحبس كتابا أسأله عن حاله وعن مسائل كثيرة فاحتبس الجواب علي أشهر ثم أجابني بجواب هذه نسخته: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله العلي العظيم الذي بعظمته ونوره أبصر قلوب المؤمنين، وبعظمته ونوره عاداه الجاهلون، وبعظمته ونوره ابتغى من في السماوات ومن في الارض إليه الوسيلة بالاعمال المختلفة والاديان المتضادة، فمصيب ومخطئ، وضال ومهتدي، وسميع وأصم وبصير وأعمى حيران، فالحمد لله الذي عرف ووصف دينه محمد (صلى الله عليه وآله) أما بعد فإنك أمرؤ أنزلك الله من آل محمد بمنزلة خاصة وحفظ مودة ما استرعاك من دينه وما ألهمك من رشدك وبصرك من أمر دينك بتفضيلك إياهم وبردك الامور إليهم، كتبت تسألني عن امور كنت منها في تقية ومن كتمانها في سعة فلما انقضى سلطان الجبابرة وجاء سلطان ذي السلطان العظيم بفراق الدنيا المذمومة إلى أهلها العتاة على خالقهم رأيت أن افسر لك ما سألتني عنه مخافة أن يدخل الحيرة على ضعفاء شيعتنا من قبل جهالتهم، فاتق الله عز ذكره وخص بذلك الامر أهله واحذر أن تكون سبب بلية على الاوصياء أو حارشا عليهم (1) بإفشاء ما استودعتك وإظهار ما استكتمتك ولن تفعل إن شاء الله، إن أول ما أنهى إليك أني أنعي إليك نفسي في ليالي هذه غير جازع ولا نادم ولا شاك فيما هو كائن مما قد قضى الله عز وجل وحتم فاستمسك بعروة الدين، آل محمد والعروة الوثقى الوصي بعد الوصي والمسالمة لهم والرضا بما قالوا ولا تلتمس دين من ليس من شيعتك ولا تحبن دينهم فإنهم الخائنون الذين خانوا الله ورسوله وخانوا أماناتهم وتدري ما خانوا أماناتهم ائتمنوا على كتاب الله فحرفوه وبدلوه ودلوا على ولاة الامر منهم فانصرفوا عنهم فأذاقهم الله لباس الجوع والخوف بما كانوا يصنعون وسألت عن رجلين اغتصبا رجلا مالا كان ينفقه على الفقراء والمساكين وابناء السبيل وفي سبيل الله فلما اغتصباه ذلك لم يرضيا حيث غصباه حتى حملاه إياه كرها فوق رقبته إلى منازلهما فلما أحرزاه توليا إنفاقه أيبلغان بذلك كفرا؟ فلعمري لقد نافقا قبل ذلك وردا على الله عز وجل كلامه وهزئا برسوله (صلى الله عليه وآله) وهما الكافران عليهما لعنة الله والملائكة والناس أجمعين والله ما دخل قلب أحد منهما شئ من الايمان منذ خروجهما من حالتيها وما ازدادا إلا شكا، كانا خداعين، مرتابين، منافقين حتى توفتهما ملائكة العذاب إلى محل الخزي في دار المقام، وسألت عمن حضر ذلك الرجل وهو يغصب ماله ويوضع على رقبته منهم عارف ومنكر فاولئك أهل الردة الاولى من هذه الامة فعليهم لعنة الله والملائكة والناس أجمعين، وسألت عن مبلغ علمنا وهو على ثلاثة وجوه ماض وغابر وحادث فأما الماضي فمفسر وأما الغابر فمزبور (1) وأما الحادث فقذف في القلوب ونقر في الاسماع وهو أفضل علمنا ولا نبي بعد نبينا محمد (صلى الله عليه وآله)، وسألت عن امهات أولادهم وعن نكاحهم وعن طلاقهم فأما امهات أولادهم فهن عواهر إلى يوم القيامة نكاح بغير ولي وطلاق في غير عدة وأما من دخل في دعوتنا فقد هدم إيمانه ضلاله ويقينه شكه، وسألت عن الزكاة فيهم فما كان من الزكاة فأنتم أحق به لانا قد أحللنا ذلك لكم من كان منكم وأين كان وسألت عن الضعفاء فالضعيف من لم يرفع إليه حجة ولم يعرف الاختلاف فإذا عرف الاختلاف فليس بضعيف، وسألت عن الشهادات لهم فأقم الشهادة لله عز وجل ولو على نفسك والوالدين والاقربين فيما بينك وبينهم فإن خفت على أخيك ضيما (2) فلا وادع إلى شرائط الله عز ذكره بمعرفتنا من رجوت إجابته ولا تحصن بحصن رياء (3) ووال آل محمد ولا تقل لما بلغك عنا ونسب إلينا هذا باطل وإن كنت تعرف منا خلافه فإنك لا تدري لما قلناه وعلى أي وجه وصفناه، آمن بما اخبرك و، لا تفش ما استكتمناك من خبرك، إن واجب حق أخيك أن لا تكتمه شيئا تنفعه به لامر دنياه وآخرته ولا تحقد عليه وإن أساء وأجب دعوته إذا دعاك ولا تخل بينه وبين عدوه من الناس و إن كان أقرب إليه منك وعده في مرضه، ليس من أخلاق المؤمنين الغش ولا الاذى ولا الخيانة ولا الكبر ولا الخنا ولا الفحش ولا الامر به (1) فإذا رأيت المشوه الاعرابي في جحفل (2) جرار فانتظر فرجك ولشيعتك المؤمنين وإذا انكسفت الشمس فارفع بصرك إلى السماء وانظر ما فعل الله عز وجل بالمجرمين فقد فسرت لك جملا مجملا و (صلى الله على محمد وآله) الاخيار. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl bin Ziyad from ‘Isma’il bin Mehran from Muhammed bin Mansur al-Khuza’iy from Ali bin Suwayd;
and Muhammed bin Yahya from Muhammed bin al-Husayn from Muhammed bin ‘Isma’il bin Bazi’ from his uncle Hamzah bin Bazi’ from Ali bin Suwayd;
and al-Hassan bin Muhammed from Muhammed bin Ahmad al-Nahdiy from ‘Isma’il bin Mehran from Muhammed bin Mansur from Ali bin Suwayd:

He (Ali bin Suwayd) said:

“I wrote to Abu al-Hassan, Musa عليه السلام, when he was in prison, a letter in which I asked him about his condition and many questions. The answer did not come for several months. Then he wrote to me and this a copy of the answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficient, the Merciful. All praise belongs to Allah, most High, most Great, through whose greatness and light the hearts of believing can see and because of His greatness and light the ignorant ones become His enemies, through His greatness and light those in the skies and those on earth seek to establish the relation by using their different deeds and opposing religions. There are the right ones and those who are mistaken, lost and guided, those who can hear and deaf, seeing and blind wandering.

All praise belongs to Allah whose religion Muhammed (S) has defined and described. Thereafter, you are of the people to whom Allah has given a special position with Ale (family of) Muhammed عليه السلام, because of protecting the love, which attracts you to His religion. (It is also because of) that He inspired you with awareness and insight in matters of your religion. You give preference to them and ask your questions from them. You have written to ask me of the issues about which I was in a fearful condition. I was able to withold them. When the domination of the tyrants ended and the domination of the owner of the great dominion came (time of his martyrdom) in the form of departing and leaving the blameworthy world to its transgressing people against their Creator I found that I could explain what you have asked me. I am afraid that confusion may come upon our weak Shi`a because of their ignorance. So fear Allah, most Glorious, and inform about it to only those who deserve it and be cautious against your becoming a means against the executors of the will (Wasee’s) or provoking against them through publicising what I have entrusted you with and exposing what I have asked you to hide and you will never do if Allah so wills.

The first thing that I want to reach you is that I want to inform you of my death in these nights without being horrified or regretting or complaining about what is to happen of the matters that Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has determined and has made inevitable. You must get hold of the firm ring of Ale (family of) Muhammed and the formidable ring of the Executors of the Will (al-Wasee’s) one after another. You must submit to them and agree with what they say and not to seek the religion of those who are not of your Shi`a.

You must not love their religion because they are treacherous ones who betrayed Allah and His Messenger, betrayed their trust and you know how they betrayed their trust. They were entrusted with the book of Allah but they corrupted it and changed it. The people who possessed divine authority and knowledge were shown to them but they turned away from them. Allah made them taste hunger and fear because of what they had done.

You have asked about the two men who usurped the asssets of a man, which he spent for the poor and the destitute and those who deplete their supplies on a journey and in the of Allah. When they usurped his asset, they did not stop for that much until they made him carry that asset to their homes. When they secured it, then they made themselves as the person in charge of its spending and they reach the level of disbelief in doing so. By my life, they had played hypocrisy before as rejection against Allah, most Majestic, Most Glorious, and His words, by considering His Messenger as deriding and they are rejectors, condemned by Allah, His angels and all people. By Allah, nothing entered in the heart of any of them of belief from the time of their coming out of their condition. It did not increase anything by doubt for them. They were deceitful, doubting and hypocrites until the angels of penalty took them away to their place of failure in the permanent dwelling. You have asked about those who were present with that man when they were usurping his assets and placed on his shoulder when certain ones knew but denied. They are of the first apostates of this nation; Allah, His angels and all people, condemn them.

You have asked about the level of our knowldge. It is of three levels. One is abbout the past, about future and about that which is coming into being. That which is about the past is interpreted, that which is about future is written down and that which is about what is coming into being is placed in the hearts. It is knocked in the ears, that are the best and excellent form of our knowledge, and there is no prophet after our prophet, Muhammed (S).

You have asked about the mothers of their children and about their marriage and their divorce. The mothers of their children are prostitutes to the Day of Judgement, their marriage is without guardian and divorce without waiting period. Those who come in our call then his belief destroys his misguidance, his certainty destroys his doubt. You have asked about their zakat. In Zakat, you have more right. We have made it lawful for you and for those who are of your people, where they may be. You have asked about the weak(laymen) ones. The weak ones are those with whom one cannot argue (because they cannot understand it) and do not know the differences(between Sunni and Shia). If one knows the difference then he is not weak. You have asked about testimony in their favour. You must testify for the sake of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, even if it (testimony) is against your own self, parents, and relatives, or (if testimony is needed) between you and them. If you fear for your brother of injustice then it is not applicable. Call to the condition (religion) of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, to know us if you have hope in being accepted. You must not seek protection by means of showing off. Accept wilayah of Ale (family of) Muhammed and do not say about what has reached you from us or is ascribed to us as false even though you may know something against it from us, because you do not know why we said it and how we explained it. You must have faith in what I inform you and must not publicise what we have held back from you of good issues. Of the obligation toward your brother is not to hold back from him anything, which benefits him in this life or in the hereafter. You must not be envious toward him even if he does bad things, you must accept his invitation when he calls, do not leave him to his enemies of the people even if he is closer to him than you are, and visit him when he is ill. Cheating is not of the moral manners of the believing people, causing trouble, betrayal, arrogance, using indecent words, committing indecent acts or commanding to do such things. When you see the deformed Arab man with an army heavily (in a large number) moving, then you can expect coming of the glad news for you and for your Shi`a, the believing ones. When the sun appears, then you must raise your eye to the sky and see what Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has done to the crminal ones. I have explained for you a few items in general sense. O Allah, bless Muhammed and his family, the people of goodness.”

QUESTION TO SHIA:

Why did you allow the ‘sons of prostitutes’ to change the book of Allah? and why did Allah entrust the ‘sons of prostitution’ with his religion and Imamah?

By Hani

—————————————————————————————————————–

By ‘sons of prostitutes’ these Shia scholars mean the Sahaba of the Prophet (saw). Alayazubillah. So they believe that Sahaba, ‘sons of prostitutes’ according to them, corrupted and altered the book of Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala). This is without a doubt a Kufri statement and anyone who says this is a Kafir straightaway.

These are the people whom the Shia take their religion from. Al-Kulayni is the author of the first and most authentic Shia Hadith book.

Imamate of Ali in Shia texts – A simple question for shiites!

Alsalam alaykum,

This is a thought that came to mind that one shouldn’t really bother asking. However, since the beginning of rijali experimentation upon Shia hadiths, I have come to doubt even the most basic aspects of what I thought was established Shia theology.

So, the question of the day looks into whether tashayyu is self sufficient, or is it not able to function without the existence of Sunnism.

To answer this question, I would like to see an authentic narration from Shia texts, one that is connected and constitutes of only thiqaat, to the Prophet (pbuh), in which he affirms that Ali is to be obeyed after him.

Please O’ Shias, put my doubts to rest.
