The pomegranate that made Ali(as), an Imam

Here is the Shia Iollywood [i.e. made by irani’s. 😉 ] movie of how ‘Ali (ra) became an infallible rightly guided Imam with commentary of their scholars.

Himran bin A’iyun from abu ‘Abdillah (as): Jibreel (as) came to the prophet SAWS and brought him two pomegranates, so the prophet SAWS ate one of them and split the other in half, so he SAWS ate one half and fed the other half to ‘Ali, then he SAWS said: O brother do you know what these two pomegranates are? ‘Ali said: No, He SAWS said: The first one is not yours as it contains the prophet-hood, the second one is knowledge and you are my partner in this knowledge, I said: How can he be his partner in this? He said: Allah did not teach Muhammad SAWS knowledge unless he ordered him to teach it to ‘Ali (as).

Now the commentary by the enemies of Allah (Shia scholars):

His saying “How can he be his partner in this?” as it is known from partnership that each side has a different share from his partner but this is not what is meant here as he was asked about the nature of this partnership and he replied: That what is meant is that each of the two has the exact same knowledge as the other but with the condition that one of them has the right of teaching it.

It is not meant from this that they both hold equal shares of the knowledge, as it is only an example from the examples of Allah which only the people of knowledge could comprehend.
Otherwise if what is meant is that one half of the pomegranate of knowledge was eaten by the Prophet SAWS and the other half by ‘Ali (as) then it would mean that ‘Ali (ra) wouldn’t know everything that the Prophet SAWS knows and vice-versa.
The narration is not intended to explain this matter, it is intended to show us that they both have equal knowledge. The Quran proves the truth that they both have equal knowledge in Surat Aal-‘Imran 61: “And ourselves and yourselves” so ‘Ali is the Nafs(self) of the Prophet SAWS while taking into consideration the exception “And there is no prophet after me.”

One response to “The pomegranate that made Ali(as), an Imam

  1. Rasool Allah (saaws) said a person who hates Ali Ibne Abi Talib (a s ) can not be a legitimate person . He also used to say that we both are from a noor e wahid and Ayesha recognised that looking at the face of Ali (a) is Ibadah, though later she forgot it and confronted him in a battle against all norms of shari’ah, thus forfeiting her position as a Prophets widow . About the ibadah, that is what the Prophet of Islam said and never said any thing on his own except what Allah wanted him to say , like wahabis you may call it shirk, shirk, bida’a , bida’a but that very well known from his aqwal, believe or perish.
Now what do you think who was Sahak and Nufayl , if not sure read Al salabatah fi Ma’arafatah al Sahabah (3/212) by Mohammad bin Saeb al
Kalbi that will give you historical in sight on the Shajra e Nasab of your
dearest Hero , you love the most .That realised will probably prevent
you from the blasphemous pastime most of the time you and your co religionist indulge and are collecting ajr e azeem for their here after.
