Simple question and answer on Shirkul Dua specially prepared for open hearted, open minded shias…may they be guided to true Tawheed.

Q1: I hear a lot shias calling or invoking upon Ali, Hussein with words like Ya Ali Madad, is this wrong?

Yes, this is wrong as it is not allowed in Islam to call upon anyone besides Allah. We have no other choice but to invoke Allah BECAUSE Allah COMMANDED and not requested us to invoke Him alone. Anything that comes under command then it automatically becomes an act of worship.

Q2: Are you sure that Allah (swt) Commanded us to invoke Him only?

Yes Allah commanded us to invoke Him and the ayats are:-

And your Lord says: “Invoke on Me, I will answer your prayer.” [40:60]

“Call ye, then, upon Allah with sincere devotion to Him, even though the Unbelievers may detest it.” [40:14]

He is the Ever Living, La ilaha illa Huwa, so call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion. [40:65]

The most beautiful names belong to Allah: So invoke on Him by them. [7:180]

Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors.” [7:55]

…and Call upon Him, making your devotion sincere as in His Sight.” [7:29]

And Invoke not besides Allah any such that will neither Profit you nor Hurt you, but if (in case) you did so, you shall certainly be one of the Zalimin. [10:106]

All these ayats clearly Command us to invoke Allah, so invocation is must upon every believer.

Q3: Suppose I don’t invoke Him or invoke anyone besides Him, will I be punished?

Yes, you will be punished, because Allah created you to worship Him and not to forget that He commanded you to worship Him alone. As He (swt) said:

“And I (Allaah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone)”. [51:56]

Q4: But I was talking about invocation and not worship.

Invocation is not different from worship. I have already told you that anything that comes under command equals to worship. And invocation is worship, nay but the best forms of worship.

Q5: Can you provide clear evidence from Qur’an on what you are saying?

Insha Allah

And your Lord says: “Invoke on Me, I will answer your prayer.” Verily! Those who scorn My worship they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!” (Surat Ghafir 40:60)

In this aya Allah calls invocation as worship and those who do not invoke Him are charged with arrogance.

Q6: But the aya might have some other hidden meanings as shia scholars say that Qur’an can only be understood by Imams. So can you provide clear ahadeeths from shia source, like saying of Imams for example?

Yes there are many ahadeeths of shia Imams written in their most revered ahadeeths book affirming that invocation is worship.

Messenger (SAW) said: “Invocation is weapon of believer, pillar of religion and light of heavens and earth”
(Al-Kafi: 2/339)

Imam Abu Ja3far (as) said: “Best form of worship is invocation”
(Al-Kafi: 2/338)

“The dearest deeds towards Allah on earth is invocation”
(Al-Kafi: 2/339)

Imam Al-Saadiq (as) said: “Invocation is worship”
(Al-Kafi: 2/339)

“Verily invocation repels decree and catastrophe”
(Al-Kafi: 2/341)

Messenger (SAW) said: “Invocation is the brain of worship, none perish with invocation”
(Bihar Al-Anwar 93/300)

After all these evidence it becomes clear that those who invoke other than Allah are in grave danger of committing shirk in worship or ‘shirk fi d-dua’. And such people have been clearly given warning by Allah in His Book Al-Qur’an, where He (swt) said:-

So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord.” [18:110]

So whoever hopes for meeting with Allah should ward off shirk in dua or worship.

And Lastly I would like to remind that Shirk is unforgiveable sin.

Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases; and whoever sets up partners with Allah, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. [4:48]

Wa Salam Ala men it-taba3 alhuda.

How many narrations of the Prophet (saw) are in the books of the Shiites, in their four main book of Hadith (کتب اربعه)?

There are 44,000 Ahadeeth in the four main books of the Shia out of which 1.5% (650) of them are prophetic. Even the narrations of Ali (ra) are few hundreds only and majority of narrations are from al-baqir (rah) and Jafar Sadiq (rah) (of course they are lies and fabrications).

Moreover,  only a smaller fraction of that 1.5% attributed to Prophet Muhammad (saw) can be considered authentic according to Shia hadith sciences.

SubhanAllah! Indeed we are the people of Sonnah since we have his Sonnah but shiites don’t.

I was listening to an audio recording of a lesson by Sa’ad Al-Shnifa and he brought my attention to something I’ve overlooked quite a few times during my studies in Shia rijal.

There is a rule, that some shia scholars have used in order to strengthen narrators that are originally unknown. For those that are familiar with Al-Saduq, and some of his books, you’ll notice that he often makes taradhee of his shaikhs. For example, he will say, Mohammed bin Musa bin Al-Mutawakil (radhee Allahu anh), and some Shia hadithists see this as a form of strengthening.

The following are some of their quotes:

Al-Burujirdee said (Miqyas Al-Ruwat p.150):

كثرة ترضي أحد أعاظم الأصحاب وأعيانهم في حق أحد من المشايخ، لا إشكال في دلالته على التوثيق

Rough translation: There is no doubt that a lot of taradhee by one of our major scholars upon one of the shaikhs is evidence that he is a thiqa.

I also found this post by a Shi’ee on a forums trying to strengthen a narrator:

الشيخ الماحوزي – كتاب ولادة القائم المهدي عليه السلام بالروايات الصحيحة الصريحة – الصفحة 16:
علي بن عبد الله الوراق : من الذين أكثر الرواية عنهم الصدوق (قدس سره) ، كما قد أسرف في الترضي والترحم عليه ، وهذا كاف في التوثيق وإثبات العدالة .

Rough translation: Ali bin Abdullah Al-Warraq: One of the that Al-Saduq narrated a lot from, and he made tarahum and taradhee of him a lot, and this is sufficient to accept him as trustworthy.

والترحم من الثقة ظاهر في التوثيق ، فضلا عن الاعتبار ، كما يرشد إليه نقل الترحم من الصادق ( عليه السلام ) في ترجمة جابر بن يزيد بل عد الرضيلة والرحملة من الألفاظ الظاهرة في التوثيق .

Rough translation: …but even that taradhee and tarahum are clear statements for tawtheeq.

وبناء على هذا فيمكن التفصيل بين هذه العبائر، فإذا صدر الترضّي من الإمام عليه‏السلام فلا شكّ في دلالته على التوثيق، وكذلك الحال في صدوره من الأعلام العارفين بمداليل الالفاظ في حقّ معاصريهم، والظاهر أنّه يعدّ توثيقاً، ولا سيما مع الاكثار منه، فنفس الترضّي علامة على التوثيق، والإكثار منه تأكيد له.

Rough translation: …if an Imam makes taradhee then there is no doubt that this person is a thiqa, and this is similar if a major scholar used similar words with a contemporary, for it clearly implies tawtheeq, no doubt if he says it a lot…

So, as we can see, a decent amount of Shia rijal scholars feel this way about taradhee. In short, they will accept the taradhee of Al-Saduq or Al-Mufeed as a form of strengthening.

However, what if this taradhee was done by Allah (swt)?

9:100 And the first to lead the way, of the Muhajirin and the Ansar, and those who followed them in goodness – Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him, and He hath made ready for them Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide for ever. That is the supreme triumph. 

وَالسَّابِقُونَ الْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ وَالَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُمْ بِإِحْسَانٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي تَحْتَهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

Question: I once went to a nightclub when a whore asked me for $100, I paid her and she told me:”I’ll offer you all my body in Mot’ah (“enjoyment marriage”) according to the amount of money (you have givin). It (the “marriage”) lasted for the period of one day only, is it still considered a legal “Mot’ah” marriage?

Answer: In His praised names, 

If what she said was with the intention of marriage and with your approval then this is regarded “enjoyment marriage” (Mot’ah).

Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Sadiq AL ROHANI is among the major Marja’s of Qom. The following question was posted on his arabic Fatwa site (wich is a section SOLELY for pleasure marriage aka Mut’ah aka Rafidi Zina.)

QUESTION: Is there any Kirahah (dislike i.e. being Makrooh) of pleasure marriage (al-Mut’ah) with a VIRGIN GIRL whose father has givin his consent? And what is the ruling of engaging in pleasure marriage with a VIRGIN girl who

A) – Her father rejected it

B) – Her father has not been informed

C) – Her father and grandfather have passed away?

ANSWER: Bismihi jallat Asma’ih. Pleasure marriage (al-Mut’ah) with a VIRGING girl is PERMISSIBLE under ALL circumstances as long as the girl is mature no matter if the father is present or not or if he gives his permission or not.

Great and well-known shia scholar, Ayatolah Murtaza Mutahari, praised Amir al-Muminin Omar ibn al-Khatab (may Allah be pleased with him) for his  justice (adl) during his caliphate.

In his book (عدل الهی which means Divine Justice)  Murtaza Mutahari writes on page 221-222:

عمرو عاص از طرف عمر حاكم مصر بود ، روزی پسر عمرو عاص به صورت يكی‏ از رعايا سيلی زد ، ستمديده به نزد عمرو عاص رفته شكايت كرد ولی وی‏ ترتيب اثر نداد . اين مرد غيور حركت كرد به مدينه و نزد عمر آمد و عرض‏ حال داد . عمر ، عمر و عاص و پسرش را احضار و محاكمه نمود در اين‏ محاكمه يك جمله تاريخی ازعمر نقل شده است خطاب به عمر و عاص و پسرش گفت : متی استعبدتم الناس و قد ولدتهم امهاتهم احرارا ” از كی مردم را برده خويش گرفته‏ايد در حالی كه از مادران خويش آزاد متولد گرديده‏اند ” سپس دستور قصاص صادر نمود

عمر با پسر خودش نيز همينطور رفتار نمود ، وقتی ثابت گرديد پسرش‏ شراب خورده است حد الهی را درباره او اجرا نمود . اينها عدالتی بود كه رسول خدا ( صلی الله عليه و آله و سلم ) به مسلمين‏ آموخته بود و مسلمين هنوز آن را فراموش نكرده بودند ، و به عبارتی ديگر ، چرخی بود كه رسول خدا به حركت آورده بود و تا مدت زيادی كم و بيش به‏ همان شكل به حركت خود ادامه می‏داد

English Translation: Amr ibn al-as was the ruler of Egypt appointed by Umar. One day the son of Amr ibn al-as slapped a peasantry on his face so he went to Amr ibn al-as and complained to him but it was not effective. This brave man then moved to Madina and went to Umar and explained to him the situation he faced. Umar summoned Amr ibn al-as and his son and put them on trial. In this trail a historical statement is quoted from Umar: Addressing Amr ibn al-as and his son, he said: “Since when have you taken people as your slaves when they are born free from their mothers” and then issued the retribution order.

Umar also treated his own son in the same way . When it was proved that his son drunk alcohol he carried out the divine had.   These were the justices that the Messenger of Allah (salalahu alaihi wa alihi wasalam) taught  Muslims and Muslims still had not forgotten it, or in other words,  it was a wheel that the Messenger of Allah brought to move and for a great period more or less it would continue to move in the same way.
